Sartorialee’s loving this modern take on a quintessentially British waxed jacket by Leicester-based brand Peregrine for SS15.  Whilst doffing its sartorial cap to the British countryside, the blazer is equally at home in more urban surrounds, crafted in England using 6oz British Millerain bottle green antique wax.

It’s the sort of country attire you can happily wear in town without fear of resembling Nigel Farage. It’s unconstructed, the fit is trim, the cut exemplary with no unnecessary excess fabric. Boasting beautiful muted grey Harris Tweed detailing on the under collar and breast pocket, with a throat latch that can be fastened to repel the wind.

Even after a couple of wears the wax is starting to age nicely as the images testify – injecting the ruggedness of a biker jacket, that bastion of great British fashion icons, in to a blazer. Black contrast elbow patches and 2 deep, buttoned pockets complete the look.

This is a classic, layer-able investment piece that will just keep getting better and better with age. I wear mine over a camel Last of England basket weave cashmere jumper (largely because, for the life of me, I’m unable to pull off the Milk Tray man roll neck look), navy and white striped spread collar shirt with a brown paisley silk scarf for a nice contrast of textures, patterns and weaves. If you wanted to add a tie in to the mix I would go down the foulard route, preferably in a pop of burgundy. But the beauty of it is that it’s not just limited to winter.

It’s a hardy perennial staple that looks just as cool worn worn over a smart polo shirt in the warmer months.
